Aruna Bahuguna, IPS (retd) Chairperson
Leading the Yudhvir Foundation board of trustees is chairperson Aruna Bahuguna, lauded former Director General Police and the first woman in the Indian Police Service in erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh.
Raised by a family that supported her every dream, it is no surprise that Aruna Bahuguna shattered every glass ceiling in her chosen field. Amongst her several accolades and industry-firsts, she also holds the distinction of being the first woman Special Director General in the Central Reserve Police Force, the first women director of the National Police Academy and has been awarded the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
She was handpicked by the Chief Minister in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh to form the Women's Protection Cell to investigate crimes against women and as the Inspector General of the State Human Rights Commission, Aruna Bahuguna played an important role in the state to curb Human Rights violations.
During her highly decorated career in the IPS, even as she worked hard to ensure that law and order was always preserved, she went to extra lengths to protect the underprivileged and weaker sections of society. Post her retirement she channeled her courage and determination to her humanitarian interests. During the lockdown, when she saw migrant workers walk barefoot she began a drive to collect footwear for them. And then in August 2020 she started Roti Bank Hyderabad, a non-profit free food distribution organization aimed at eliminating hunger and malnutrition amongst the underprivileged. Aruna Bahuguna is also a volunteer at the LV Prasad Eye Institute.
Vinay Vir Trustee
Vinay Vir is the son of late Shri Yudhvir and Smt. Seeta Yudhvir. Vinay completed his schooling at The Lawrance School, Lovedale in 1968. He studied his undergraduate in Journalism in Vadodara and Hyderabad, and then secured a Master’s in Journalism from Osmania University. Even as a student he helped his father in the running of their newspaper Daily Hindi Milap. An avid cricketer, Vinay also had a real passion for photography and spent several years as an ace photographer working for several advertising agencies.
Vinay took over Daily Hindi Milap in 1991, following the sudden demise of Shri Yudhvir. Since taking over the helm of operations, the newspaper has seen much success, primarily owing to the new technologies in printing and processing, and the efficiencies that Vinay has introduced.
Amer Ali Khan Trustee
Amer Ali Khan is a seasoned journalist and News Editor at The Siasat Daily. He completed his Bachelors in Communications and Journalism from Osmania University and went on to complete an MBA from Sultan–ul-Uloom College of Business Administration.
As the head of India’s largest Urdu daily, Amer Ali Khan has ensured accurate and compelling news coverage for nearly three decades. A respected news person, in his capacity as editor Amer Ali Khan has travelled the world as part of the President and Prime Minister of India’s official entourage on several occasions. He has also been invited to international journalism programs including the International Visitors Exchange program of Germany’s Goethe Institute in 2002, the International Visitor Program of Great Britain on Islam in Britain in 2007 and the Indian Delegation of Journalists and Representatives of Civil Society in 2015.
Under his leadership Hyderabad-based The Siasat Daily has now expanded further with editions being published out of Bengaluru and Qatar in the Middle East. He has also been instrumental in forming an alliance of 10 Urdu dailies for content syndication in India. Fair business practices and safeguarding the interests of minority communities are concerns very close to his heart. Towards these issues, he has been the flagbearer for the development of minority communities through CSR programs of education and skill development.
Tarun Kumar Jhaver Trustee
Tarun Kumar Jhaver is the Managing Editor of the monthly publication Shree Shyam Suman. An avid writer of poetry and prose, he has authored several books including Jai Durge Bhajan Maalika, Prerana ke Strot and 26 issues of Shree Shyam Pushpanjali.
Tarun Kumar has dedicated his life to social service and cultural pursuits. Towards these interests, he has played an important role at organisations such as Akhil Bharat Varshiya, Maheshwari Yuva Sangathan, Maheshwari Samaj and Rishi Chaitanya Katha Samiti. He was also the founder of Shri Ashtsakhi Radhakrishna Devasthanam Trust and Shri ShyamSarkar Sangh amongst others. Tarun Kumar has a deep dedication to devotional events and established a world record for presenting a 24-hour non-stop Bhajanajali in the year 2016.
Vipma Vir Secretary
A graduate from Delhi University, Vipma Vir spent her early career in fashion marketing. She always had a strong affinity for the Hindi language and shortly after marrying into the Milap family, she joined Daily Hindi Milap’s editorial department. She worked her way up the ranks, from a writer to Features Editor and is now the General Manager of the newspaper. Vipma is also an accomplished author and wrote Dashavatar (2014). She also translated Narendra Luther’s acclaimed ‘Hyderabad: Memoirs of a City’ (1995) from English to Hindi. With a strong commitment to social causes, especially for the underprivileged girl child, Vipma has supported several NGOs including Deep Shikha Mahila Club for over three decades.
